The Chocolate People sell made-to-order corporate branded chocolates, personalised chocolates, and ready-made chocolates. I’ve worked with them for many years, and in 2015 I updated their website to a responsive design to give customers a better experience on mobiles and tablets.
Corporate and personalised chocolate is a niche within a very competitive promotional products sector. Promotional chocolates are perfect for business/product marketing and trade fairs, and as hotel/restaurant chocolates. The website has e-commerce to sell ready-made chocolates for weddings, birthdays and special occasions.
I created the logo and brand colour palette. Purple is synonymous with chocolate and was chosen as the primary brand colour.
The website has clear, bold navigation. From the Home page customers can easily find the products they are looking for: Boxes of chocolates, Promotional bars, and seasonal Christmas and Easter chocolates.
The product pages are uncluttered, allowing focus on the image, product description and Call To Action. Ready-made chocolates have ‘Add to Basket’, whilst made-to-order chocolates have a contact form that makes it easy for customers to enquire about that product, and to upload their logo artwork.
For e-commerce products the journey from Add to Basket to Checkout was carefully considered to inspire confidence and trust. It is important to eliminate any reason that may cause a customer to abandon their shopping basket.
I made sure that:
- shipping costs are displayed early in the checkout process
- the customer is reassured through prominent display of payment security
- the process of entering billing and delivery data is easy and intuitive
- telephone and contact details are clearly displayed, should the customer have questions
Billing Details and Order Confirmation are captured on a single page.
A separate Payments page is integrated with secure debit/credit card processing to allow customers who have purchased made-to-order chocolates to pay their invoices through the website.
"Jason has been our web guy since 2010. He listens, understands our requirements, makes suggestions, and then implements. He doesn’t take short cuts, he delivers. The recommendations he makes are always things we have never considered. This is what makes the difference between a web designer and a good web designer you can trust. It’s so important to get things right first time and this is what he does."
